Visiting Ip Man’s Grave

This blog post is not related to Tai Chi but is of general interest to those who are active in the martial arts.

I have been to China many times over the years. It’s a fascinating place, filled with amazing historical sites and places to visit. One of my adventures took place in 2012 when I was in Hong Kong for a stopover before returning to the USA. I had a few days before my flight, and one of the places I visited was the grave of Kung Fu legend Ip Man – best known as Bruce Lee’s Wing Chun Kung fu instructor and now immortalized by Donnie Yen in the Ip Man movie series. Ip Man’s grave was one of the largest in the cemetery. Although a major storm had occurred a few days earlier, his grave was freshly swept. Here’s a picture:

I wrote more details about my travel to Ip Man’s grave in my Riverlands blog that I had at the time. You can read the full story here which, by the way, tells you how to find the grave if you visit Hong Kong.

Finally, you may not know that Bruce Lee is buried in Seattle, Washington. I visited his grave also. Here’s a link to some pictures of his grave that I also posted in The Riverlands blog.
